Kosovo citizen pleads guilty in US for cybercrime

Çfarë dihet

Kosovo citizen Ardit Kutleshi, 28, has pleaded guilty in the US for his role in operating the illegal cybercrime platform Rydox. The platform, which facilitated over 7,600 transactions of stolen data and generated at least 232,000 dollars, was shut down by the seizure of its domain in 2025. Ardit Kutleshi awaits sentencing on February 9, 2027, while his co-conspirator brother, Jetmir Kutleshi, was convicted and subsequently deported to Kosovo.

Kosovo citizen Ardit Kutleshi, 28, has pleaded guilty before the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania to charges of aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit money laundering. He is accused of establishing and operating the illicit online marketplace Rydox, which served as a hub for global cybercriminals. FBI investigators have confirmed that the data sold on Rydox consisted primarily of sensitive information stolen from victims residing within the United States.

According to the US Department of Justice, the Rydox platform had been active since at least 2016. Through the site, more than 7,600 transactions were processed, involving the sale of stolen personal identification, documents, access credentials, and tools for cyber fraud. This criminal enterprise generated at least 232,000 dollars in illicit proceeds. In a decisive move to dismantle the network, US authorities successfully seized the domain 'Rydox.cc' during 2025, effectively terminating all further operations of the platform.

Investigations into the case were led by the FBI in coordination with several international law enforcement agencies, including:

  • The Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo and the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate of the Kosovo Police.
  • The Special Structure Against Corruption (SPAK) in Albania.
  • The Royal Malaysia Police and Malaysian judicial authorities.

Ardit Kutleshi was arrested in Kosovo in December 2024 and extradited to the United States in 2025. His brother, Jetmir Kutleshi, who also participated in the management of the illegal platform, was convicted in December 2025 and has since been deported to Kosovo.

The sentencing hearing for Ardit Kutleshi is set for February 9, 2027. Under US law, the charge of aggravated identity theft carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 2 years in prison, while the conspiracy to commit money laundering charge holds a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment. The final sentence will be determined by a federal judge based on established sentencing guidelines and the circumstances of the case.
